Dear
Chamber Members, Residents and Visitors:
The
City of Milford is a warm and inviting place. Although we are a
city of over 52,000 residents, we have that small town feel. People
still gather on the green or by the harbor to celebrate special
occasions or just to talk. Our beaches are open to all. The ducks
and geese have the right-of-way when they decide to cross the street.
Because
of our location, close to New York City and Boston, even closer
to New Haven and Bridgeport, we have access to all the cultural
and sporting events that those cities offer. However, we have our
own arts and entertainment right here with the Milford Fine Arts
Council leading the way. Sporting life is abundant also as citizens
from two to ninety-two participate in numerous recreational activities.
Golfers are never disappointed at our executive course, The Orchards
or the challenging Great River.
Our
diverse economy offers a variety of job opportunities. Corporate
headquarters, strong manufacturing firms and many retail and service
companies are located here. We encourage appropriate business growth.
Although
we are a mature community, founded in 1639, we have been able to
preserve open space and pristine vistas. Not far from the hustle
and bustle of the Boston Post Road, one can find a piping plover
at the Connecticut Audubon Center or a ruddy duck at Mondo Ponds.
Or slip a boat into one of two launching ramps and sail the Sound.
Or try your green thumb at the community gardens in Eisenhower Park.
Whatever
brings you to Milford... to visit, to live, to work, to play...
I extend a city welcome. Discover the history, the harbor, and the
green in our small city with a big heart.

James
