Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce Announces Pam Staneski as Executive Director

The Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Pam Staneski has been selected as the Milford Chamber’s new Executive Director, succeeding Gary Mullin, who announced his planned departure in November 2018. Pam will start as Executive Director on February 04, 2019.

Incoming Board Chair Michael Grande commented, “I am excited to have Pam join the chamber in this leadership role. Pam’s experience, expertise and vision align with the mission of our chamber and will provide a direct benefit to our chamber members. The Board of Directors looks forward to working alongside Pam, and continuing to emphasize the exceptional and unique qualities that Milford provides to its residents and businesses”.

Pam fell in love with Milford over twenty years ago when she and her husband, Paul, chose to make it their home. Since then, she has served the city in many roles, including as a member of the Board of Education, Board of Alderman, and most recently as the state representative for the 119th House District.

As a legislator she sponsored, on behalf of local shell-fishers, the protection of Connecticut’s coastal shellfish beds and spawning grounds helping to preserve a significant contributor to our local economy; and, Milford has fast become a craft-brewery hub in part because of the Farm Brewery bill that she supported which fueled partnerships between farms and breweries, and created jobs. She has also been a leader in Milford’s non-profit community. Pam co-founded the Milford Prevention Council, worked for United Way of Milford, was President of Milford’s Promise, supports the Boys and Girls Club of Milford, and volunteered for the Rape Crisis Center. As the daughter of a Navy Veteran, she has been a persistent voice for service member and veteran organizations.

Before moving to Connecticut, she spent over ten years as a cost accountant for Kransco, the manufacturer of the hula hoop and Frisbee. In that time, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University.

Pam notes, “I am honored and excited to be the next Executive Director for the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is a community connector and I welcome the opportunity to work with our outstanding membership, committees, and legislative leaders in not only continuing what the Chamber already offers its members but also in finding new and innovative ways to promote our businesses and the communities we serve.”

Pam lives in Milford with her husband and their two dachshunds. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and sampling from Milford’s many ice cream shops.

Please join us in welcoming Pam to the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce as she continues our mission to be a visionary leadership organization, dedicated to serving the needs of our member businesses, while fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life in Milford and the surrounding region.

A Message from the Connecticut Office of Tourism: Tourism Marketing Fact Sheet

As you know, there are several new committees focused on the future of tourism funding. I'm sure you agree that it's great to have this renewed interest in Connecticut tourism.

Thought it would be helpful to ensure everyone has the latest information about what we've been doing to date to promote tourism in Connecticut - and the results of those efforts. Toward that end, the Office of Tourism has prepared the attached Tourism Marketing Fact Sheet. (link to report)

If you have any questions about this information, please don't hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email.

As always, thank you for all you do to support Connecticut tourism.

CBIA NEWS: Inside the Capital:

Growth Must Be the Top Priority

Despite the state's fiscal and other challenges, and difficulties at the federal level around trade disputes and the partial government shutdown, I believe Connecticut is poised for stronger economic growth.

Companies in key economic base industries like manufacturing, insurance, financial services, and healthcare are making a commitment to Connecticut, investing in technology, innovation, and workforce development.

And, although we continue to lag the region and the country, the state's private sector job creation accelerated in the last 12 months, and the latest GDP numbers show consecutive quarters of expansion.

Whether these positive developments signal a sustainable trend depends, in large part, on whether our governor and lawmakers take steps to support a stronger Connecticut economy and avoid policy choices that put up barriers to economic progress.

Now that the 2019 General Assembly session is under way, CBIA in its advocacy role will maintain a singular focus on how policy proposals either enhance or impede growth and private sector employers' ability to invest and create jobs in Connecticut.
