The
Ambassadors
Our ambassadors assist the membership director in various capacities,
including the following:
- Visit
new members
- Facilitate
our membership retention program through "adoption" of members.
- Act
as Marketing Consultants during Membership Drive
- Attend
functions, i.e. "Business Before/After Hours", Ribbon Cuttings &
Grand Openings as official Chamber Representatives.
Meet
the 2nd Tuesday of the month promptly at 12:00. This is a luncheon meeting. Meet
alternately in the Chamber Board Room and at a member restaurant. Back

Our Education Committee is comprised of both business people, educators, administrators
and student representatives. The students are on an equal footing as members of
the committee, learn to make motions and take initiative under Robert's Rules
of Order.
- Provides
Mini-grants
for student community projects.
The education committee awards mini-grants for students up to $150 for projects
that are personally rewarding to the student and benefit the Milford community. - Is
the only committee that involves students, educational professionals and business
people.
- College
and post-secondary education (including trade school) scholarships are offered
to Milford residents and employees of Milford Chamber members.
Meets
the 1st Thursday of the month promptly at 4:00 and takes approximately 1 hour.

Legislative
Action
The Legislative Action Committee takes initiatives and makes responses
to issues affecting our membership.
- Works
to educate and communicate to the business community on issues affecting
their bottom line.
- Advocates
and takes positions on proposed legislation.
- Participates
with eight other chambers to promote business interest at the state
level.
- Employ
a professional lobbyist to keep us up to date on issues affecting business.

the 1st Thursday of the month promptly at 8:00 AM, in the Milford Chamber
Board Room.

Committee The Golf Committee is responsible for organizing
our annual Bic Classic Golf Tournament, which benefits the Milford Chamber of
Commerce Trust Fund. The Trust Fund distributes funds for our mini-grant program
and Scholarship program. - Plans
and produces our golf tournament to benefit our Scholarship and Mini-Grant program.
- Meets
January to July.

Leads
Groups
The Leads Groups offer a group exchange of business leads and connections.
They are open to one person per business category. There are currently
three leads groups and all meet weekly in the Milford Chamber Board Room.
The Tuesday and Wednesday morning groups meet at 8:30 AM. The Friday leads
group meets at noon.

Associates Additional associates working in concert
with the Milford Chamber team to better serve the community.
- Network
of Executive Women-Women Helping Women Succeed
The Network of Executive Women is an organization for the promotion
and support of women in business who are executives, professionals and
entrepreneurs in various business fields. The Network meets the first

- Milford
Progress, Inc.
Milford Progress, Inc. is the economic development corporation within
the chamber. It was created in 1974 and was designated by the Board
of Alderman as the official downtown development agency. The purpose
of the corporation is to promote, foster and develop the physical, natural
and economic resources of the city including, but not limited to, implementing
commercial and industrial purposes within the city. They are currently
hard at work on the downtown plan of development, which will be fed
into the overall plan soon to be adopted in the Spring of 2002. For

- Milford
Consortium for Child Care Initiatives
MCCCI is a corporate consortium providing summer day camp opportunities
for children of employees who are members. For more information contact

Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE)
The chamber currently houses the Milford branch of SCORE, a volunteer
organization which is part of the Small Business Administration. They
provide free counseling to business startups and existing businesses.
Their counseling includes: development of business plans; marketing
plans; access to loan programs; and one on one business counseling.

- Milford
Chamber Trust
The Milford Chamber Trust is a bona fide 501-c(3) non-profit organization.
Their board of directors is comprised of past presidents of the Milford
Chamber of Commerce. It houses our scholarship program, mini-grant program
and various other community initiatives.
