Chamber Membership Means Opportunities
Membership
Directory, Business and Community Guide

As
a member of the Milford Chamber of Commerce you have an opportunity
to be listed three times in our 150+ page bound directory.
This
directory is distributed to 8,000 members, visitors, new residents
and business prospects and contains a wealth of information about
Milford. Each member is listed three times free of charge (alphabetically
by company, contact person and by classified categories). This
provides our members high visibility to other members and potential
customers.
There
are many other advertising opportunities available to members
only. Call Nell Moll at 203-878-0681 or email nmoll@milfordct.com
for more information.
The
new Chamber Web site (www.milfordct.com) averages almost 30,000
page views with about 14,000 unique visitors per month. It features
community resources, tourism, recreation and relocation information,
both the chamber and community calendars, Downtown Plan of Development;
business assistance and daily updated Milford and state-wide business
news briefs, as well as links to dozens of business resource sites.
The Chamber newsletter and new member introductions are also included
online. All Chamber members are listed in the business directory
and may hyperlink their own page or email address to the Chamber
site for only $41 per year, or members can contract for broader
advertising packages on the Web site. The Web site provides members
inexpensive worldwide exposure and is an excellent source of referrals.

Opportunities
Through Networking . . .
Letter From the President

In
these difficult economic times, networking and personal contact
are becoming increasingly more important. The Milford Chamber
of Commerce offers you numerous networking possibilities. Our
monthly Business After Hours are a great opportunity to meet new
people and make contacts. In November, we will be holding
our Fall Table Top Expo. The holidays bring us to the Milford
Bank for a yearly celebration.
In
addition to Business After Hours and other special events, committee
involvement is a great way to network. The Chamber of Commerce
has several standing committees that offer open participation.
The Golf Committee plans the annual BIC Classic Golf Tournament,
The Education Committee meets the first Thursday of every month
at 4 PM and is responsible for Chamber Mini-grants and Scholarships.
The Legislative Action Committee meets the first Thursday of every
month at 8:30 AM in the Chamber Board Room. This committee is
the legislative outreach arm of the Chamber that makes a difference.
We concentrate specifically on business friendly legislation.
The Ambassadors also meet monthly and aid the Chamber with new
member recruitment and retention through programs like the adopt-a-member,
"Operation Thank You" and greeting new members at all
events.
I
would encourage you to get involved and utilize all the networking
opportunities that the chamber offers. In these tough times it
is even more important that we work together.

How
to Network:
Networking Tips for Chamber Events.
·
Attitude is key. Be friendly and outgoing.
· Quickly acknowledge friends and acquaintances and introduce
yourself to those you do not know.
· Be ready with a quick eight-to-ten word description of
your business, one that will hook potential customers.
· Keep your business cards handy and loose in your pocket.
· If someone is interested, take his or her card and follow
up with a call the next day.
· Use time in food and beverage lines to talk to people.
· Your Chamber name tag has your first and last name, greet
people by name, it is a great icebreaker!
